Jen Mason makes the scene at The National Hockey League Flagship Store, Hudson Yards tour promoted by Open House New York (OHNY) Saturday night. Kelvix, an O’Blaney Rinker manufacturer-partner supplied RGBW solutions for cove and stair lighting for this multi-sensory hockey experience.
The tour featured the senior lighting designer from Cooley Monato Studio and a member of the architectural team from TPG who discussed the thoughts behind and challenges of designing and building this elevated retail experience using light and materials to convey a visual sense of movement and the perception of being on the ice and part of the game.
Elevate your design to the next level with
TriGain® technology and Forum architectural lighting.
O’Blaney Rinker Associates is enthusiastic about the acquisition of manufacturer-partner Forum Inc. by GE Current, a Daintree company. Forum Lighting’s 50-plus–year record of working with the design community to develop and manufacture spec-grade products is exceptional. Forum will continue as a vertically integrated, standalone entity and enjoy numerous advantages as part of Current.
Current’s TriGain phosphor technology presents just such a synergy. Current has invested significantly in the development of an efficient, narrow-band red phosphor. TriGain technology offers great color rendering across the spectrum, with vivid reds – at no cost to the light engine’s efficacy. The highly detailed TM30 color rendering tool shows TriGain’s optimized performance. Few light sources can meet the criteria in TM-30 Annex E, and TriGain technology does so with high efficacy. Retailers, specifically, will benefit. Packaging and merchandise catch the eye, thanks to colors that pop.
Combining TriGain with Forum’s high-performance luminaires also offers virtually limitless possibilities for offices, wellness service providers, transportation centers, and more. “Forum’s focus on providing high-quality linear solutions for architects, designers, and specifiers makes them the ideal partner to expand our lighting portfolio,” said Manish Bhandari, CEO, Current. “Forum’s values and customer-centric culture are well aligned with Current. Current will continue to invest in Forum to deliver new solutions, accelerating their growth.”
It was time spent working closely with designers, installers, and end-users that inspired Alex Nicolaides to found Scout Lighting. O’Blaney Rinker is proud to expand those relationships by representing Scout linear lighting in the New York Metro area.
The Scout LED engine is a field-cuttable, rigid board that corners like a champ. Ten different extruded optics throw light just how you need it. They like to say, “Custom is our standard,” so bring us your high-design ceiling materials, backlighting and vault challenges, and custom pendant ideas. As a bonus, Scout’s proprietary housings are made from 50% recycled material, and any un-used aluminum scraps are recycled for reuse.

O’Blaney Rinker is pleased to represent EOS Lightmedia — an award-winning lighting and audiovisual design firm with international experience in architecture, public spaces, building facades, themed attractions, museums, presentation centers, and public art installations. Their services include design, supply, install, and programming services of lighting and media systems, including control technology.
Eos Lightmedia was contracted to supply, install and focus the majority of lighting for the museum. What would normally be a relatively straightforward task—lighting a museum—was instead a highly sensitive one: Eos needed to realize the carefully constructed vision of the design team from Fisher Marantz Stone, within the constraints of site conditions, local contractors and New York labor unions. Eos Lightmedia provided a lighting control and programming system to realize the full potential of the venue’s new solid-state, high-output LED lighting technology while respecting residential neighbors. Under the lighting designer’s direction, Eos programmed light shows including signature looks for the building and shows for both the Lions and Whitecaps. To this day, Eos continues to program lighting for the facility and create unique shows for special events and celebrations. More »
Eos Lightmedia worked with Maltbie for Rockwell Group’s Luminaries public lighting program at Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan. The installation consists of 650 translucent lanterns embedded with RGB LEDs that hang in a dynamic canopy of light up to 45 feet off the ground. Eos selected the fixtures, created the electrical data layouts, created the interactive kiosk software and hardware designs and assisted Rockwell’s programmers and Brookfield’s on site tech team with the installation.
