James O’Blaney Master of Ceremony at Lumens 2019
James O’Blaney was Master of Ceremony (and entertainer extraordinaire) along with Nathaniel Bliss for the 2019 IESNYC Lumen Awards
held at Chelsea Piers on June 13. They delighted the crowd with a most amusing Lumen video
and concluded the awards in Hawaiian attire, as they played ukuleles and passed out Leis!
Industry folks comment that he is the funniest guy in the lighting industry. We here at O’Blaney Rinker couldn’t agree more!
We would like to congratulate the following Lumen Award Winners: BuroHappold Engineering; Tillotson Design Associates; LOOP Lighting; One Lux Studio; Focus Lighting; Melanie Freundlich Lighting Design; Lighting Workshop; upLIGHT; and CBBLD for their outstanding work!
Our team at ORA also had the pleasure to spend some fun time with our manufacturers! Following are some of the highlights:

Forum Lighting Specifier Tour
We recently had the pleasure of visiting Pittsburgh, PA, to tour the facilities of Forum Lighting
—an independent lighting fixture manufacturer of architectural lighting systems for commercial, office, retail and custom applications since 1963. Forum Lighting designs and manufactures recessed, surface, wall mounted, and pendant lighting fixtures, for fluorescent and LED applications. We have collaborated with Forum Lighting on several projects together and were excited at the opportunity to tour the facility!
Our group toured the 40,000 square foot manufacturing facility and were able to watch the detailed process of taking sheets of aluminum and transforming them into finished architectural lighting designs. We then proceeded to the lighting lab to view the extensive breadth and depth of products offered.
Forum introduced our group to their new design solution based, recessed wet listed Aquas 4R series
-extruded aluminum rectilinear luminaires designed for wet listed applications. Click Here to Download Spec Sheet
They also showed us their new Frame series
, which is minimalistic in form and limitless in application. The Frame series is available in several standard portal configurations as well as source directional placement.Click Here to Download Spec Sheet
Recently, Forum Lighting’s products were used in several high profile projects including The Fulton Street Transportation Hub and the new Second Avenue subway in New York City.
